Barrington Court Garden, a
property managed on behalf of the nation, by the National Trust was laid
out in the 1920's to designs by architects Forbes and Tate for the Lyle
family, who used basket-weave brick paths and fine masonry out-houses to
give the garden structure. Gertrude Jekyll advised on the planting.
Christine Brain, the present Head Gardener, has added a beautifully
designed White Garden. In season, produce is tended in the walled
kitchen garden and used in the Strode House Restaurant. The Tudor manor
house was restored in the 1920's by the Lyle family. It is let to Stuart
Interiors as showrooms with antique furniture for sale.
